Instalación de Frida

Pasos para instalar Frida en un dispositivo con jailbreak:

  1. Abre la app Cydia/Sileo.
  2. Navega a Manage -> Sources -> Edit -> Add.
  3. Introduce "https://build.frida.re" como la URL.
  4. Entra en la nueva fuente de Frida.
  5. Instala el paquete Frida.

Si estás usando Corellium necesitarás descargar la release de Frida desde https://github.com/frida/frida/releases (frida-gadget-[yourversion]-ios-universal.dylib.gz) y descomprimirla y copiarla a la ubicación dylib que Frida solicita, p. ej.: /Users/[youruser]/.cache/frida/gadget-ios.dylib

Una vez instalado, puedes usar en tu PC el comando frida-ls-devices y comprobar que el dispositivo aparece (tu PC debe poder acceder a él).
Ejecuta también frida-ps -Uia para ver los procesos en ejecución del teléfono.

Frida Fuzzing

Frida Stalker

Desde la documentación: Stalker es el motor de trazado de código de Frida. Permite que los hilos sean seguidos, capturando cada función, cada bloque, incluso cada instrucción que se ejecuta.

Esto es interesante con fines de depuración, pero para fuzzing, estar constantemente .follow() y .unfollow() es muy ineficiente.

Fpicker

fpicker es una suite de fuzzing basada en Frida que ofrece una variedad de modos para fuzzing en proceso, como un modo AFL++ o un modo de trazado pasivo. Debería funcionar en todas las plataformas compatibles con Frida.

caution

En este caso no estamos reiniciando la app ni restaurando el estado después de cada payload. Entonces, si Frida encuentra un crash los next inputs después de ese payload podrían también crash the app (porque la app está en un estado inestable) incluso si el input shouldn't crash la app.

Además, Frida interceptará las señales de excepción de iOS, así que cuando Frida encuentra un crash, probablemente no se generarán iOS crash reports.

Para evitar esto, por ejemplo, podríamos reiniciar la app tras cada Frida crash.

Fuzzing avanzado con Crash Monitoring

Fuzzing Mejores prácticas

  1. Start with small corpus: Comience con 3-5 inputs bien formados
  2. Monitor memory: Utilice Process.enumerateRanges() para comprobar memory leaks
  3. Save interesting crashes: Guarde crashes interesantes; compruebe /var/mobile/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ con frecuencia
  4. Use coverage feedback: Utilice retroalimentación de cobertura; el modo AFL++ en fpicker proporciona mejor cobertura
  5. Timeout detection: Añada timeouts para detectar hangs (no solo crashes)
  6. State restoration: Restablezca el estado de la app entre iteraciones cuando sea posible
  7. Multiple mutation strategies: Combine random, format string, and grammar-based fuzzing
  8. Log systematically: Mantenga logs detallados de inputs que inducen crashes

Logs y Crashes

Puede revisar la macOS console o el cli log para consultar los logs de macOS.
También puede consultar los logs desde iOS usando idevicesyslog.
Algunos logs omitirán información marcándola como <private>. Para mostrar toda la info necesita instalar un perfil desde [https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/profiles-and-logs/] para habilitar esa información privada.
